NEW EU STRATEGIC AGENDA 2019-2024

The new Strategic Agenda, negotiated by Member States, the Council and the outgoing Commission, will act as a basis for the work agenda of the next Commission. This year it may be supplemented by a platform presented by the 4 main political groups in the European Parliament united in coalition - the European People's Party (EPP), the Socialists and Democrats (S&D), Renew Europe (RE) and the Greens/EFA.

The Agenda  was adopted on 20th June 2019

  1. Number of years experience in public policy advocacy.
  2. Employment history including job title and responsibilities from the time work started in public policy advocacy.
  3. Statement of previous and/or current activities that illustrate  background and ability as a Public Policy Advocate.
  4. Primary field of expertise.
  5. Public policy advocacy assignments performed in the last 3 years and how many of these were specifically billed as public policy advocacy services?

TERMINOLOGY: PUBLIC POLICY ENGAGEMENT, PUBLIC POLICY ADVOCACY AND PUBLIC POLICY DEVELOPMENT

Public policy development: Public-policy development relates to the process and substance of exploring, designing, and creating options for government action or policy. Often included is consideration of the means of policy engagement by stakeholders.

EUROPEAN AVIATION LANDSCAPE

In the European aviation sector, there is no middle ground anymore. On scheduled flights, travellers have to choose between service and price. There is no longer room for holiday carriers and regional airlines, after tremendous consolidation that occurred in the last two years. Holiday carriers like Air Berlin, Monarch Airlines, Primera Air and Germania disappeared. In addition, several regional airlines ceased to exist and Flybe, the largest regional airline in Europe, was forcefully sold to a consortium of buyers led by Virgin Atlantic.

2020 will be a very important year for the world’s seas and ocean, with the 15th CBD COP  (Convention on Biodiversity) and the 2nd UN Ocean Conference giving an opportunity to the EU to demonstrate its leadership in protecting the marine environment and the rich ecosystems we depend on. Given its ambitious marine, fisheries and nature conservation laws and policies, the EU should be at the forefront of the global fight to save our seas.
